If you’re a pickleball enthusiast, you know how addictive the sport can be. The fast-paced game is a great way to stay active and have fun with friends and family. If you’re considering building a pickleball court on your property, you’ve come to the right place.
In this blog post, we’ll outline the general steps involved in building a pickleball court. If you’re looking for expert support or help with building a pickleball court, Erindale Landscaping and Construction is here to help.
Our experienced team can provide you with top-notch service and help you create the pickleball court of your dreams, just like the one we’ve built below!
Determine the location: Choose an area that is level, has good drainage, and is large enough for a pickleball court (44 feet by 20 feet for doubles, 22 feet by 20 feet for singles).
Clear the area: Remove any grass, rocks, or other debris from the location. Use a sod cutter or a shovel to remove the grass.
Excavate the area: Dig a hole that is 4 inches deep for the playing surface.
Install the base: Add a layer of crushed stone or gravel to the excavated area. Compact the base with a plate compactor to create a firm and level surface.
Lay the playing surface: Install a layer of asphalt or concrete over the base layer. Smooth out the surface with a screed and then use a roller to ensure a level playing surface.
Install the lines: Use a stencil to mark the boundary lines of the court. Paint the lines using a specialized paint designed for pickleball courts.
Install the net: Install a pickleball net in the center of the court. The net should be 36 inches high at the ends and 34 inches high in the middle.
Finish the surface: Once the court is complete, apply a finishing coat to the surface. This can be a color coating or a sealant to protect the surface from weathering.
Enjoy the court: Once the finishing coat is dry, the court is ready to be used for pickleball games!
